How to Become the Go-To Contractor in your Area?

How to Become the Go-To Contractor in your Area?:

Hey guys!

How is it going? We hope you are doing awesome!

So, you are ready to become the go-to guy in your niche?

It doesn’t matter if you are a plumber in California…

Or you have a business in Florida…

The rules are always the same.

One of the best ways to become an authority in your niche is by blogging.

Blogging for contractors

And you may say it takes a lot of time, but it’s really powerful!

The platform, the action, and the readership are all incredibly valuable tools for anyone wanting to Become and Authority.

But what exactly does a blog do and where does all that value come from?

Let’s take a closer look at what makes a blog such an incredibly powerful tool and why you pretty much have to have to have one.

What Blogging Does

A blog is a direct communication tool between you and your customers and readers.

It allows you to communicate with them in a much more personal way than any single article ever could and it allows you to generate content on the fly.

Blogs are easy to use, without any complex technical tools in place and no programming knowledge necessary.

You can install one in 5 minutes, write a post in the same way you would on a word processor, and update your theme and style in seconds, often times for free.

On the social side, blogs have built in tools to syndicate content all over the globe.

Marketing for ContractorsSomeone presses a button and they can have access to your posts from their phone, desktop and browser every day.

They can also share with others easily, and they can write comments that you will have easy access to anytime, through your email.

Finally, there is the value a blog has in a search engine.

Even if you’re not using a blog for your personal presentation, you’ll find that the platform is wonderful for linking, search engine friendly code, and easy to index pages.

Google loves blogs and they make for easy site creation.

Blogging for Contractors?

So, with all that in mind, what does it mean to create your own blog?

It all depends on what you’re doing and how you want to use your site, but in my opinion, you pretty much need to have a blog, regardless of its uses.

The majority of contractors and marketers like to have their names out there at some point in their careers, allowing them to network with other contractors or potential customers.

Second, there is the fact that a blog is going to be the easiest tool you’ll ever use to build a site.

Blog TrafficIf you’re thinking about putting together your first authority or review sites, using a blogging platform might be just what the doctor ordered. (we recommend WordPress for that matter)

They go together in minutes, take minimal programming, and allow for easy adding and indexing of new content later on, when you start tacking on new articles or reviews for Google.

Whatever you do, the goal of the blog should always be to facilitate conversation.

And position yourself as an authority, right?

At the end of the day, a blog is one of the fundamental tools of all Internet marketing.

It isn’t a trendy tool that only a few tech-savvy users will pick up.

It’s one of the backbone tools of the game and it will allow you to quickly and easily access a wide range of potential new sales, regardless of the nice you’re currently marketing in.

7 Things To Be Grateful For If You’re Incorporated

if you're incorporated

There’s so much to be thankful for as an entrepreneur, and I’m quick to count my blessings throughout the year. But from the perspective of a small business owner who runs a corporation, there are a few extra things to add to the “I’m Grateful For” list this Thanksgiving.

1. You Never Have to Worry About Your Personal Assets

When you’re a sole proprietor, if you ever were to be sued, your personal bank accounts, retirement accounts, or even your home could be used to cover legal fees. But as an incorporated business owner, your personal assets are separate from that of the business, and can’t be used in that scenario. Let’s raise a glass to not having to worry about that!

2. You Feel More Professional

There’s a certain level of gravitas that comes with being able to put “Inc.” at the end of your business name. And even if you don’t choose to add it to your name, simply being incorporated can make you feel, well, more real as a business owner. And customers may take you more seriously as well.

3. You Stress Less Over Taxes

Being able to file your taxes once, thanks to what’s called pass-through tax, saves the headache of filing both personal taxes and business taxes, the way you would if you weren’t incorporated. And you may qualify for tax savings as a corporation. Hey, I’m in favor of paying less in taxes, and I’m betting so are you!

4. Your Business Can Outlive You

If you want to pass your business on to your kids, it’s simple enough to do so with a corporation. Because it’s a separate entity, it has an unlimited life of its own. It will be around as long as the business operates. And it can be transferred to a new owner when you’re ready to retire through an exchange of assets for stock.

5. You Can Build Your Business’ Credit Independently of Your Own

With a corporation as its own entity, you can build credit, borrow money, and sell equity to raise capital through the corporation itself. And investors prefer to invest in a corporation because of the limited liability and ease of transfer of the investment, so being incorporated makes you the belle of the investor’s ball!

6. Your Finances are Easier to Track

When you’re incorporated, you need a separate bank account from your personal account, which makes it easier to keep track of your profit and loss, and makes it simpler to get a birds’ eye view of your finances.

7. You Can Invite More People to the Party

Running a corporation, you can have multiple owners, which can take the pressure off of you to do it all. Most corporations allow an unlimited number of shareholders, though the S-corp limits that number to 100.

If you’re not yet incorporated, perhaps this list will convince you that you should be. There are ample benefits to incorporating your small business, with virtually no drawbacks. If you’re already incorporated, celebrate your wise decision.

A Crime Unpunished: Bangladeshi Gang Rape

Subscribe to VICE News here: A recent UN report revealed that one in eight men in rural Bangladesh admit to having committed rape. Although it is a crime punishable by death, there are no accurate government figures for rape in Bangladesh, largely due to social stigma and a failure by local authorities to investigate alleged crimes. VICE News correspondent Tania Rashid traveled to Sylhet and met with both perpetrators and victims of rape as well as local police to find out what is driving Bangladeshi men to rape and abuse women, and what steps the authorities are taking to put an end to it. Unplug Meditation – for Type A Personalities Who Need It Most

unplug meditation

When you think of meditation, what comes to mind? You probably picture a group of New Age people making ohm sounds. For some, this image might even be enough to prevent you from ever trying out meditation.

That’s why Suze Yalof Schwartz aimed for a different vibe with her Los Angeles based guided meditation studio, Unplug Meditation. The former magazine editor, known for her work on Vogue and Glamour, wanted to target a different group of people for her studio, a group that hasn’t traditionally been that into the practice. She explained to the New York Times:

“The people who need to meditate are lawyers and bankers and stressed-out mommies. And those people get turned off by the Buddhas and sage and all the woo-woo talk. I wanted Unplug to be meditation for Type A personalities: clean, modern, secular, effortless to attend.”

It’s an interesting concept for a business — to target the people who need a service the most, but are also the least likely to be interested. Because of that, Schwartz faces the unique challenge of convincing those Type A people to actually attend her classes.

So how does she do it?

First, she’s worked to create a space that’s more practical than decorative. The Unplug Meditation studio looks more like a modern pilates or yoga studio than a traditional meditation space.

The teachers at Unplug Meditation also contribute to the atmosphere Schwartz is trying to create. She encourages them to keep the sessions tightly edited, meaning they don’t go on and on about something they can say simply in just a minute or two. For stressed out professionals, brevity is an often-valued trait. So for those who need these meditation classes to calm that stress of the workplace, this feature could be highly appreciated.

Unplug’s offerings aren’t for everyone. Experienced meditators and those who are interested in the more traditional décor and practices of other meditation studios are likely not interested in what Schwartz has to offer. But since meditation is far from a new practice, even in the mainstream, there are lots of other options already occupying that part of the market.

Instead, Schwartz is trying something new, focusing on a target audience that up until now has not participated. These are the new customers she’s trying to serve .
