You Can Ease Back Pain With BetterBack

Lots of people suffer from back pain.

This is especially true in the business world where it’s common to spend long hours at a computer desk or in meetings. But it’s not just sitting that causes pain. Too often it’s our own bad posture that’s the source of our achy muscles.

This is where BetterBack wants to step in.

Created by Katherine Krug, BetterBack is more than just a back brace. Krug boasts her product can actually build posture muscles and train your body to have correct posture even without support.

Krug wrote on her Kickstarter page for BetterBack:

“Good posture affects your health, your mood and your motivation. Most people only begin to understand the importance of posture after their body is so damaged from slumping that sitting aches become chronic pain.”

Krug said she first got the idea for BetterBack after struggling with sciatica pain. She was spending 12 or more hours a day in front of a computer as COO of Everest, a now discontinued app.

To relieve her pain Krug came up with her own back brace. She soon found that friends and colleagues kept asking to borrow it for their own back pain. She decided she was on to something.

At first glance, BetterBack looks a little different. Rather than just focusing on lumbar support, BetterBack starts lower. Instead of a back brace that straps around your torso, BetterBack slips around your knees. This way, stabilization starts at the pelvis, the “keystone to good posture,” as Krug puts it.

Krug has had a varied career from real estate, manufacturing interiors for condos and hotels, contributing writer for The Huffington Post, to an interim COO at Zirtual. With her hands in a little bit of a lot of things it’s not a big stretch for her to try her hand at launching a product.

To get BetterBack to customers, Krug is currently running a Kickstarter campaign. She launched the campaign with the goal of getting 500 pre-orders to make the minimum required order quantity.

Now with just a little while left to go BetterBack has earned over $500,000 from more than 7,000 pre-orders.

If you are interested in purchasing a BetterBack you might still be able to snag one at the Kickstarter early bird price of $49. That price will most likely double once the campaign ends.

Delivery for BetterBack is estimated for October this year.
